Best Drill Bit for Slate Tile

The tiling is done, and it looks fantastic — congratulations! As a result, you’re afraid of destroying all the hard work you’ve done by drilling into the tiles to add bathroom accessories, shelving, or other fittings. This step-by-step guide on drilling through tiles will ensure that you perform a superb job and keep your tiles from cracking while you’re at it.

Know Your Tiles

To begin drilling through your newly installed tiles, you must know exactly what you’re going to be doing. Natural stone and porcelain tile are more durable than ceramic tiles, so you’ll have to put in more effort to break through.

Ensure You Have the Right Tools for The Job

In order to efficiently and effectively drill through tile, a power drill is a need. However, the drill bit is the most critical component. There is no point in using an old or worn-out drill bit because they are less efficient than fresh ones. Drilling using an outdated one is more likely to cause harm to the tile’s surface because it will be less efficient.

Measure, Measure Again, Then Mark

Anyone who has tried to drill through a tile before knows that the surface glaze makes it difficult to hold the drill bit firmly on the surface when you begin. Make sure the tile doesn’t move when you apply the adhesive.

Start To Drill Through Tiles

Your preparation is complete, you’ve taken accurate measurements, and you’re ready to go! Porcelain and natural stone tiles, in particular, are extremely tough and built to resist the rigors of daily use in both the home and the workplace.

Keep Your Bits Cool

For successful tile drilling, keep your drill bits cooled at all times. What’s next? Inquiring minds aren’t the only ones. You don’t need ice cubes or small handheld fans to keep your drill bits from overheating; all you need is a little H2o (that’s water, for those who don’t know).

Change Your Drill Bit to Suite the Substrate the Tiles Are Attached To

Once you’ve broken through the tile and reached the wall, use a slow, steady drilling motion to avoid tearing the wall apart, which could compromise the integrity of your wall anchor or raw plug.

In order to drill through porcelain and ceramic tiles, diamond core tipped drills are required. When I first started using a drill, I wasted a lot of money on drill bits that only worked for a few minutes. If you regulate the speed of the drill and keep the hole, you’re drilling wet, these drills are affordable and effective. If you have a level tile surface for the suction base to seal, the vacuum base works nicely.

On a few occasions, I had difficulty situating the base on 100mm (4″) square tiles since the seal overlapped the tile edge, which prevented the base from sealing properly. You can’t use the vacuum base on mosaic tiles or tiles with a rough or uneven surface. So that I could keep them all together, I’d have preferred if the case that drill bits came in included space for the vacuum base. I have nothing but good things to say about this product.
